CVS Slack Workspace

The Center for Visual Science has a CVS Slack workspace open to all members of CVS. The workspace is meant to be a means for members to interact and collaborate with each other. To join the workspace requires you to be invited to it by an existing member...if you'd like to join please send an e-mail to me (Chris Freemesser - cfreemes@ur.rochester.edu) and I'll send you an invitation.

CVS Slack channels

Within the Slack workspace are several "channels"...each designed to be a place where members can discuss matters pertainting to a certain topic. When you are added to the CVS Slack workspace you're added to a group that identifies your position in the department (faculty, staff, grad, postdoc, etc.), and membership in that group defines which channels you have access to.

Channels follow the nomenclature (group_specific-topic) where "group" basically indicates what group of users the channel is meant for, and "specific-topic" is simply the topic discussed in the channel. The current list of channels (which is still being ironed out and thus subject to change) includes:

cvs_admin-general : General discussion of matters pertaining to the administration of CVS

cvs_admin-grants: Matters related to grant management in CVS

cvs_admin-intranet: Matters related to the CVS Slack workspace and other "internal" online resources for CVS

cvs_admin-visibility: Matters related to public visibility and promotion of CVS

cvs_admin-webpage: Matters related to the CVS website

cvs_admin-polls-surveys: A channel for discussing CVS polls and survey

cvs_lab-staff: A channel for CVS lab staff to discuss matters of interest

cvsall-colloquia: Mmatters related to CVS colloquia

cvsall-computing: Matters related to general computing issues in CVS

cvsall-core_modules: Matters related to the core modules in CVS

cvsall-events: Announcements about upcoming events of interest to CVS members

cvsall-general: A catch-all channel for topics of general interest to CVS members

cvsall-information: An "FYI" channel to let CVS members know about various bits of important info
