Lab Meeting, Summer 2015, Week 13

Awe- and Aw-inspiring readings (or just stuff you think deserves a mention)

What we did over last week

Florian

  1. Edited handbook chapter on signal reduction with Esteban. So far we have received and integrated feedback from Mirjam Ernestus, Meghan Sumner, Uriel Cohen Priva, Inbal Arnon, Dan Jurafsky, and Matt Goldrick. As part of that I read/browsed quite a few papers on the relation between phonetic and phonological reduction --some of which are eerily related to the review I mention below.

  2. Edited version 56 of grant proposal with Scott Fraundorf. Submitted on Wednesday!!!

  3. Edited third and fourth draft of Klinton's paper with Mike and me on uncertainty maintenance. We're working on the editioral letter.

  4. Received 4th draft of Guillermo's paper.

  5. Reviewed a paper on pronunciation variation for Cognition. Met with Esteban and Kodi and had fun thinking through the pros and cons of the paper. Wrote the review and sent it to Este-Kode for feedback.

  6. Declined one review for Frontiers.

  7. Was invited to participate in a commentary on Bayesian pragmatic. To be precise, Juergen Bohnemeyer was invited and then invited me. Apparently, there's a paper by Gerhard Jaeger and Michael Francke that talks about the use of Bayes Theorem in pragmatics. Perhaps others in the lab are interested? I'd imagine that Juergen might be open for a larger collab.

  1. Working away on the tutorial. Fixed the sub navigation buttons for the two tracks. Added some new pages. Need to fix pop up.

  2. Updated calendar for Mindaugas Mozuraitis
  3. Thought about updating the wiki, will do so with relevant Redcap information and what Zach and I had come up with a month ago.
  4. Started a lab manager manual to make myself "replaceable". Will start filling it out throughout August.
  5. Found out I passed my summer class, so officially in my grad program! Wo0o0o.
