Instructions for the new Xerox ColorQube 8870DN in Meliora 249

These instructions are also valid for the Phaser 8870 printer in G-4106. Simply replace "cvs249color.cvs.rochester.edu" with "cvs003.urmc-sh.rochester.edu".
Mac OSX
If you previously had the old Phaser 8860 printer on your computer, use the "Print & Fax" preference pane (click on the Apple Menu in the top left corner of your desktop, and select "System Preferences..." to get to it) to remove it. Highlight the printer in the list, then click on the "-" box underneath the list to remove it.
Download the Xerox printer installation program: http://www.cvs.rochester.edu/cvspriv/downloads/ColorQube8870/ColorQube8870_MacOSX.dmg.
- Double-click on the file to open the installer...a window should appear with an installer called "Xerox Print Drivers 2.50.0" in it. Double-click on that file to launch the installer.
- Accept the default options during install.
- Once it finishes, it will display a "Select A Printer" window with three icons in it. Click on the icon on the RIGHT.
- Enter the printer's address (either "cvs249color.cvs.rochester.edu" or "172.30.80.8".
From the printer model pulldown menu, select "Xerox ColorQube 8870DN".
- Click on Continue.
- On the next page, check or uncheck the option to print a test page or make this your default printer as you see fit.
- Click on Continue. At this point, you're done.
Windows XP users who previously had the old Phaser 8860 installed
- Go to the Printers control panel and delete the entry for the old Phaser 8860 printer...it may be called "cvs249color".
Download and run the Xerox printer installation program: http://www.cvs.rochester.edu/cvspriv/downloads/ColorQube8870/ColorQube8870_Win_XP_Win7_32bit.exe
- The program will ask for a directory where it can decompress the installer. Accept the default, and click Install.
- In the next window, click on "Local printer attached to this computer", but UNcheck "Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer". Click Next.
- At the next window, select "Use the following port" and select the port called "cvs249color.cvs.rochester.edu" from the list.
In the next window, select "Xerox ColorQube 8870DN PS" from the list of printers. Click Next.
- In the next window, enter something descriptive (if you like) for the printer name, and set it as your default if applicable. Click Next.
- In the next window, select "Do not share this printer". Click Next.
- In the next window, print a test page if you like. Click Next.
- The printer wizard should now complete. Click Finish to end installation.
Windows XP users who did NOT previously have the old Phaser 8860 installed
Click on "Start" -> "Settings" -> "Control Panels" and select the "Network Connections" control panel.
- In the resulting window, click on "Advanced" and select "Optional Networking components". Checkmark the box next to "Other Network File and Print Services". Click Next. Windows should then add a few things and close that window. Then, close the "Network Connections" window.

- The program will ask for a directory name that it can use to decompress the installer. Accept the default, and click Install.
- The "Add Printer Wizard" should now start. Click on "Next".
- In the next window, click on "Local printer attached to this computer", but UNcheck "Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer". Click Next.
- In the next window, select "Create a new port" and select "LPR port" from the list. Click Next.
- In the next window, enter "cvs249color.cvs.rochester.edu" in both of the fields. Click Next.

- Click on "Start", then "Control Panel". Select the "Programs and Features" control panel. On the left side, click on "Turn Windows features on or off". In the resulting window, click on the "+" symbol next to "Print and Document Services". Checkmark the boxes next to "LPD Print Service" and "LPR Port Monitor". Click on OK to make the changes.
