Instructions for the new Xerox Phaser 4600/DN in G-4106 or G-3000

Mac OSX

• Download the Xerox printer installation program: http://www.cvs.rochester.edu/cvspriv/downloads/Phaser4600/Phaser4600_Mac.dmg.

• Double-click on the file to open the installer...a window should appear with an installer called "Xerox Print Drivers 2.59.0" in it. Double-click on that file to launch the installer.
• Accept the default options during install.
• Once it finishes, it will display a "Select A Printer" window with three icons in it. Click on the icon on the RIGHT.

• Enter the printer's address: cvs002.urmc-sh.rochester.edu for the printer in G-4106, or cvs004.urmc-sh.rochester.edu for the printer in G-3000.

• From the printer model pulldown menu, select Xerox Phaser 4600. The list may be long...the 4600 is near the middle.

• Click on Continue.
• On the next page, check or uncheck the option to print a test page or make this your default printer as you see fit.
• Click on Continue. At this point, you're done.

Windows XP

• Download and run the printer driver installer: http://www.cvs.rochester.edu/cvspriv/downloads/Phaser4600_WinXP_Win7_32bit.exe. The Windows "Add Printer" wizard should automatically launch afterwards.

• Select the option "Local printer attached to this computer", but UNcheck "Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer". Click "Next".
• Click on "Create a new port" and specify the type of port as "Standard TCP/IP Port". Click "Next", then "Next" again in the resulting window.

• On the "Add Port" page, enter cvs002.urmc-sh.rochester.edu for the printer in G-4106, or cvs004.urmc-sh.rochester.edu for the printer in G-3000, as the address of the printer in the "IP address" field (it should appear in both fields as you type it). Click "Next".

• Click "Finish" in the next window.
• In the next window, select the manufacturer of your printer from the left column, then the model from the right column. It's a Xerox Phaser 4600/DN.
• For the Printer name, enter something descriptive. Click "Next".
• In the next window, click on "Do not share this printer". Click "Next".
• In the next window, do not printer a test page. Click "Next".
• In the next (and last) window, click on "Finish". The computer will do what it needs to do, and the printer will be ready to go once the computer is done.

Windows 7

• Download and run the printer driver installer appropriate for your copy of Windows 7:

  32-bit version: http://www.cvs.rochester.edu/cvspriv/downloads/Phaser4600_WinXP_Win7_32bit.exe

  64-bit version: http://www.cvs.rochester.edu/cvspriv/downloads/Phaser4600_Win7_64bit.exe

• The Windows "Add Printer" wizard should automatically launch afterwards.
• Select the option "Add a local printer".
• Click on "Create a new port" and specify the type of port as "Standard TCP/IP Port". Click "Next".

• On the "Add Printer" page, enter cvs002.urmc-sh.rochester.edu for the printer in G-4106, or cvs004.urmc-sh.rochester.edu for the printer in G-3000, as the address of the printer in the "Hostname or IP address" field (it should appear in both fields as you type it). Click "Next".

• In the next window, select the manufacturer of your printer from the left column, then the model from the right column, and click "Next". It's a Xerox Phaser 4600/DN.
• Expand the driver installer to a folder on your computer. Once done, click on the "Have Disk" button on this page of the printer setup. In the resulting window, enter the directory that the installer decompressed itself to. You will then be shown the printer drivers you downloaded....select the correct one and click on "Next".
• For the Printer name, enter something descriptive. Click "Next".
• In the next window, click on "Do not share this printer". Click "Next".
• In the next window, do not printer a test page. Click "Next".
• In the next (and last) window, click on "Finish". The computer will do what it needs to do, and the printer will be ready to go once the computer is done.
