AUCTeX is a major mode for editing LaTeX in Emacs. You want to use AUCTeX if:

  • You already use Emacs for other tasks
  • You know LaTeX pretty well but want some nice shortcuts
  • You want to learn LaTeX on OSX or Linux
  • You keep your references in BibTeX format (or have an easy way to export to BibTeX)

There are lots of good AUCTeX resources available online. One excellent place to start is the AUCTeX page on the Emacs Wiki, http://www.emacswiki.org/cgi-bin/wiki/AUCTeX. You can also check out the AUCTeX home page at http://www.gnu.org/software/auctex/. -- AustinFrank DateTime(2008-04-30T15:18:01Z)
