Configuring an Android device for the BCS/CVS/ASL mail system

  1. Download the "K-9 Mail" app from the Android Play store. It's free.
  2. Run K-9 Mail. Tap the Menu button, and select the 'Add account' option.
  3. Enter the account's e-mail address and password, then tap the 'Next' button.
  4. Select IMAP or POP for the mail account type. If unsure which is right for you, read this page: PopOrImap

  5. You now need to set up the settings for the incoming mail server. Enter the following info, then tap the 'Next' button to continue:


User Name: your full e-mail address IF YOU ARE BCS OR ASL USER, or just the part of your e-mail address before the "@" symbol IF YOU ARE A CVS USER

Password: enter your e-mail password

IMAP or POP server: cvs.rochester.edu (this is correct for anybody in BCS, CVS, or ASL

Security type: SSL (always)

Authentication type: CRAM_MD5
