Brother HL-L62750DW printer setup instructions
These instructions are for configuring a computer to use a Brother HL-L2750 DW black & white printer.
Maria/Sara: the address of your printer is 'cvs006a.urmc-sh.rochester.edu'.
Step 1: Enabling LPR/LPD support (WINDOWS USERS ONLY)
If you are running Windows, you need to make sure that LPD/LPR printing is enabled on your computer..it's disabled by default. The instructions for enabling it are here: EnableLpdPrinting
Step 2: Download the driver software
Visit this site to download the correct printer driver installation program for your platform:

Windows 10
1. Download and double-click on the Windows driver installer. If asked if you want to allow the installer to run, click 'Yes'. You'll then see a box asking where you want the driver to be decompressed to, which is usually your Downloads folder. Click the "Decompress" button.
2. The installer will decompress the installer to a folder called "gdi" in your "Downloads" folder.
3. Click on Start, then scroll down the the program list to "Windows System" and click on it to expand it. Select "Control Panel". Within the Control Panel window select "Devices and Printers" (if you don't see it click on the "Large Icons" link in the top right corner. Once the "Devices and Printers" control panel is open, select the "Add a Printer" option.
4. The computer will automatically try to scan for printers. Click on the "The printer that I want isn't listed" link at the bottom of the window.
5. Select the option "Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings". Click "Next".
6. Click on "Create a new port" and specify the type of port as "LPR Port". Click "Next".
7. In the resulting window, enter the address of the printer (listed at top of this wiki) in both fields. Click "Next".
8. In the next window click on "Have Disk". Navigate to the "/gdi" directory where the driver was decompressed to (likely your "Downloads" folder) and select the file "BRPRM17A". Click "Open", then click "OK" in the next box.
9. Several printers will appear in a list...select "Brother MFC-L2750DW Series" at the bottom of the list. Click "Next".
10. For the Printer name enter "CVS006a". Click "Next".
11. In the next window, click on "Do not share this printer". Click "Next".
12. In the next window, print a test page if you like. Click "Next".
13. In the next (and last) window, click on "Finish". The computer will do what it needs to do, and the printer will be ready to go once the computer is done.
