The Coil bitebars differ from the DDPI bitebars in that they must be made out of plastic (or other insulator). They must be sterilizable so they can be used for multiple sessions. This rules out 3D prints.

In addition, they must be biosafe or at least food-safe. This means we can't use composites. Considering these, the only remaining options are rigid plastic or glass. We chose the former option.

We manufactured bitebars out of both delrin and polycarbonate. Delrin proved to be more rigid. However we still have some polycarb bitebars made and ready for use. Considering how cheap delrin is, I recommend avoiding the polycarb and simply manufacturing more delrin bitebars.

We manufactured them at the CVS shop with Dan Guarino, (Daniel_Guarino@URMC.Rochester.edu) using their CNC router.
