Lab Meeting, Summer 2016, Week 1
Awe- and Aw-inspiring readings (or just stuff you think deserves a mention)
What we did over last week
Florian
Chigusa
Kodi
Analyzed vowel data from Nationwide Speech Corpus from the ideal adapter perspective.
Co-authored (with Dave and Florian) and submitted abstract based on those analyses to Meghan Clayards satellite workshop at LabPhon
Continued analyzing data for Clarke & Garrett (2004) replication/extension.
- Met with Maryam to discuss KL divergence and other aspects of our LCN intro/tutorial paper on ideal observer approaches to speech perception
Andrew
- Did some clean up on the "HLP Lab: Participant Payments (Web, Field, Lab)" so the "Summaries" sheet is more consistent. Be careful about not leaving trailing spaces after your name or experiment names, etc. Be sure to always use the same name for the same experiment, project, grant, etc. We use that data to generate summary pivot tables.
- Started adding new tables and columns to my experiment runner in preparation for giving it an API and using it to generate reports for continuing reviews and grant reviews.
- Ran 60 more workers on Scott's newest experiment.
- Merged in most recent boto2 development code into my branch on my fork so it works with Python 2 and 3. (Before it was failing on the authentication stage of connection.) EDIT: found several cases where the boto still fails due to Python2isms. But it's better.
Read a bunch of pandas tutorials to improve my Pythonic data munging skills
