RA Meeting, TERM 2016, Week 8

Awe- and Aw-inspiring readings (or just stuff you think deserves a mention)

  1. MyslĂn, M., & Levy, R. (2015). Code-switching and predictability of meaning in discourse. Language, 91(4), 871-905. - MC

What we did over last week

Madeline

  1. Picked article for the next meeting and started prepping notes
  2. Worked with Wes to figure out the best way to collect pupil data from Eyelink
  3. Put up more slots for Masha's study on SONA

Bethany

  1. Writing from somewhere in the void of central NY. I'll be gone July 2-8.
  2. Researched ways to get from ASC files to a csv without using ExAnalysis (the last piece, and then I'll be out of the ExBuilder pipeline). So far it looks like the data viewer that comes with SR Research/EyeLink is a good option, closer to what I need than PyGaze Analysis (great if you want things organized via Python lists and dictionaries, not spreadsheets to go into R), VWPre (assumes you already have a parsed report from Eyelink), EyelinkR (also gives something that would be great if you were doing analysis in Python), and EyetrackingR (assumes you already have a csv with certain variables). Do any of the basement computers have it?

  3. Looking for interesting patterns in the free response sections from pragmatic inference's outtake survey.
  4. Assorted coding and writing.
  5. Spent a lot of time figuring out my plane tickets to Spain.

Emily

Lauren

  1. Edited tables/graphs for error data analysis - changed count to percentage

Wesley

  1. Developed simple way to test pupil stuff with the eyetracker
  2. Continued intoxicated speech research
  3. Put up more slots for next week
  4. Spent some more time looking into doing video editing
  5. Developed a preliminary design for my adjectives study
