Screaming Motor Syndrome

If a motor is continuously screaming, it is likely that some of the pivot screws just need to be tightened. For example, if one of the motors if noisy, but you can track successfully by holding the mirror stationary, then this may be the fix for you. Warren's video instructions for repairing the motor are available on OPUS as a .exe file (but is a video):

Procedure for Focus

"Procedure:

  1. Set up static model eye.
  2. Focus Lock Up (on).
  3. Lock on model eye. Move Lens 8 slightly (first large lens) to be near 0.0.
  4. Perform focus detector adjustment to get equal sine waves on test points 1 and 2 on Card 8.
  5. Turn off Focus Lock and see if Lens 8 stays at or near 0.0.

If this doesn’t work, there may be another problem." -- WWW 6/5/18
